Ed Sanders on the cover of LIFE

The cover of Ed Sanders's new memoir, Fug You, due out later this spring, repurposes the 1967 LIFE magazine cover that featured Ed as the poster child of the Counterculture.

The original image, which appeared February 17, 1967, bears the following title: "HAPPENINGS... The worldwide underground of the arts creates THE OTHER CULTURE." Beneath Ed's paint-spattered picture is the following caption: "Ed Sanders, a leader of New York's Other Culture."

Ed Sanders will visit the Writers Institute today, May 5, 2011. Note: The 8PM Reading will be in the Assembly Hall, Campus Center, NOT the Recital Hall as mistakenly listed in the press according to some reports.

Suzanne Lance on the TU Front Page

Suzanne Lance, Assistant Director of the New York State Writers Institute and active member of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers, is featured on the front page of today's Times Union in a story written by Paul Grondahl.

Suzanne wrote the history chapter of the new book, Heaven Up-h'isted-ness: The History of the Adirondack Forty-Sixers and the High Peaks of the Adirondacks (2011). She also served as production manager for the book.

"For lead author and editor Suzanne Lance, eight years she spent researching and writing the book was a labor of love. She was born into it. Her father, Bill Lance, got involved because his Sunday school teacher at Grace Methodist Church in Troy, Ed Hudowalski (No. 6) and the church's pastor, Ryder (No. 7), brought the youngsters along on their spiritually-tinged Adirondack hikes...." You may order the book from the 46er website.
