Poet W. D. Snodgrass Dies

Though trees turn bare and girls turn wives,

We shall afford our costly seasons;
There is a gentleness survives
That will outspeak and has its reasons.
There is a loveliness exists,
Preserves us, not for specialists.

Pulitzer Prize winning poet W. D. Snodgrass (1926-2009) died this week at his home in Madison County, New York, east of Syracuse. See Bob Hoover's obituary of the Pittsburgh native in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
