A short documentary, William Kennedy's Prohibition Story, will premier 11:30 PM, October 2, and 7:30 PM, October 3, on local PBS affiliate WMHT in association with Prohibition, a new 3-part series by leading documentary filmmaker Ken Burns.
The Writers Institute will also offer a special screening of the film at 7:30 PM on Monday, October 3, in Page Hall on the UAlbany downtown campus, just prior to Kennedy's reading at 8:00 PM in same location. Kennedy will present Chango's Beads and Two-Tone Shoes (2011), his first novel in nearly a decade, as part of the Fall 2011 Visiting Writers Series.
